“Putting Clients First”
Product Liability

Conway & Londregan’s trial attorneys have been leaders in the area of product liability law for many years. We have confronted some of the largest companies in the world on behalf of our clients who have been injured by defective products. Our litigation team assembles outstanding expert witnesses who have strong experience with the product at issue in a case.

To give you an example of some of the product liability cases in which we have been involved in the past few years: We have gone to trial against a major automobile company relating to defective bearing assembly on the rear wheel of a car that caused the wheel to come off the car while on the highway and resulting in the car flipping over and ejecting our client. We obtained a successful verdict for our client in that case. We have taken two major gun manufacturers to trial over defective guns that caused grievous injuries to our clients, resulting in both cases settling during trial for substantial amounts. Our lawyers have handled product liability claims against manufacturers of medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and household appliances. We are involved in product liability cases involving wrongful death that occurred from GHB (gamma hydroxide butate), the so-called “date rape” drug. The firm is also representing several victims of the Rhode Island Station Fire case, in which 100 people lost their lives, which case involves product liability claims against pyrotechnic manufacturers and foam manufacturers.

We have been on the cutting edge of product liability law for many years. If you or your loved one has been injured by a defective product, give us a call.

Our product liability cases are headed by Attorney  Ralph J. Monaco, who is a board certified trial lawyer, serves on the executive board of the Litigation Section of the Connecticut Bar Association, and is a member of the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association. He and the other members of our firm have secured numerous substantial verdicts for our clients.

Attorney Monaco has handled numerous product liability cases against sporting good manufacturers arising out of the “hot bat controversy”.  Notably he tried a case against Louisville Slugger involving a hot softball bat that caused a serious eye injury to our client.  Louisville Slugger settled this case with Attorney Monaco for a confidential sum.  Modern bats are made of high tech alloys and contain weight distributions that enable the bats to hit balls at speeds of over 100 mph.   Some high performing baseball bats can even hit balls at speeds over 110.  At these speeds, experts agree that a pitcher or infielder is a “sitting duck” because the player cannot react in time.  Because players do not expect that they have literally no way to defend themselves, we have successfully argued that the bats are unreasonably dangerous.   We continue to fight in cases around the country to bring more safety back to America’s pastime.
