Biography

Attorney Dean Hanafin started his legal career as a prosecutor with the Office of the State's Attorney where he handled criminal matters ranging from misdemeanors to serious felony cases. He was responsible for a significant daily docket, in addition to hearings and trial work. He tried numerous cases to verdict and developed his trial skills through significant time spent in the courtroom. In addition to training on trial tactics, Attorney Hanafin also received training on technological advancements that impact evidence in cases, including cell phone technology and current laws as they apply to drone use.

After moving on from his role as a prosecutor, Attorney Hanafin joined an established civil litigation law firm in Hartford, Connecticut where he worked alongside veteran attorneys and support staff. There, he continued to hone his courtroom skills in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, workers' compensation, and general civil litigation.

At Conway, Londregan, Sheehan & Monaco, Attorney Hanafin's business and transactional practice involves advising and assisting start-up and established companies in corporate formation, contract drafting, trademarking issues and general counsel services. Additionally, Attorney Hanafin provides advisement and counseling to companies on permitting, licensing, leasing, business planning, and the funding of operations. Attorney Hanafin has also assisted clients by acting as a liaison between ownership and professional accountants, consultants, architects, and contractors.

Attorney Hanafin's litigation practice includes personal injury, criminal defense, business litigation, trademark litigation, employment law, and insurance law. His criminal practice provides pre-arrest counseling during investigations, in-court representation, and trial defense. His case experience includes larceny, embezzlement, fraud, other financial crimes, assault, drug offenses-including possession and trafficking-and serious motor vehicle cases.

Attorney Hanafin graduated from Roger Williams University School of Law where he received recognition for his achievements in trial advocacy, civil remedies, and white-collar crime. He was acknowledged for his work in the Law School's Criminal Defense Clinic where he represented clients in Providence Superior and District Courts. Attorney Hanafin was also recognized by the School's Pro Bono Collaborative for his dedication to public service.
